July 14, 2007: Stephanie gave a talk entitled Do Prenatal and Perinatal Events Affect a Child’s Sensory Processing Ability? at the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute. This talk is based on the results of her pilot study looking at the relationship between a mother’s and her child’s sensory processing ability.

May 31, 2007: Stephanie gave a talk entitled “Helping your child succeed: What every parent should know about Sensory Integration” at the United Cerebral Palsy of San Luis Obispo’s 7th Annual Abilities Fair held at the SLO Veteran’s Hall.  Please click here if you would like to see her presentation.

May 31, 2007: Kid’s Work is proud to sponsor the lecture entitled Transform Your Picky Eater into a Healthy Eater by Joann Bruso at 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the Health and Wellness Center at Vandenberg Air Force Base.  Ms. Bruso is the author of Baby Bites and will present a lecture on how can transform a picky eater into one that wants to eat healthy, nutritious foods.

April 23, 2007: Stephanie spoke at Vandenberg Air Force Base’s Family Support Group’s monthly meeting from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the base library.  This month’s meeting is dedicated to “Services Available for Children with Autism” since it’s Autism Awareness Month.  Click here if you would like to get a copy of the handout.

December 2006: Stephanie’s article, “The Effects of Maternal Stress in Pregnancy on Sensory Integration in Children” was published in the Journal of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health, 21(1), Fall 2006.

October 6 – 8, 2006: Occupational Therapy Association of California’s (OTAC) Annual Conference speaker.  Stephanie and Jim (Kid’s Work’s Business Manager) presented a workshop entitled “Internet Marketing for OTs”. 

March 24, 2006: Inservice entitled “O.T. for Children With Asperger’s Syndrome” presented to the Lompoc Hospital Pediatric and Family Practice physicians.

September 24, 2005: “How Do Classroom Materials Enhance Learning?”, Allen Hancock Junior College’s Classroom Materials course.

September 17, 2005: “Internet Marketing for Health Care Providers”  Jim presented this workshop for the Tri San Chapter of the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC).

August 28, 2005: Free Developmental Screenings for children at the Santa Maria Valley YMCA’s Family Day in the Park at Waller Park, Santa Maria.

Speaking Events During 2004:

August 8 – 20, 2004: People to People Ambassador to China on a cultural and professional exchange program.  Stephanie presented a talk to the Chinese participants on pediatric OT and was interviewed by a Chinese news channel.  The delegation visited the China Rehabilitation and Research Center, and the Hospital for Disabled Children in Beijing; the Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital in Xi’an; and the Kunming Medical College and the Recovering Center of Kunming Children’s Hospital.

January 2004: Preschool Handwriting Readiness Staff inservice, Presbyterian Preschool, Ballard, CA.

January 5 – 6, 2004: “Classroom Applications of Sensory Integration” and “Write-On!” Workshops for the Head Start Early Childhood Educators, Lompoc, CA.
