Kid’s Work is pleased to announce an upcoming workshop. Dr. Stephanie Foster will present a 3 hour workshop at OTAC’s Spring Symposium on April 1, 2012 in Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim, CA. The topic is titled “Sensory Processing Treatment of Birth Difficulties & Developmental Delays”.

Upcoming workshop: April 1, 2012:  California Occupational Therapy Association Spring Fling in Disneyland, Anaheim, CA.

Topic: Sensory Processing treatment of birth difficulties & developmental delays.

The development of sensory systems during the prenatal period is critical to physical and emotional development. The perinatal period (surrounding the child’s birth) also has lasting implications on how sensory processing develops. Stress and trauma affects the developing fetus and has long term implications. This workshop examines how development from pre-conception through delivery affects the tactile, vestibular, and visual processing, which affect learning and sensory processing throughout life. As OTs we have many techniques to help that individual achieve their full potential. Understanding how one’s earliest experiences before birth impact development helps OTs more efficiently calm dys-regulated nervous systems.
